New Haven Insight is a meditation community dedicated to the practice of mindful awareness and compassion, with the goal of decreasing (and ending) stress and suffering for all beings.
We welcome anyone who wishes to practice meditation, regardless of previous experience or spiritual background. Beginners welcome! Our primary meditation practice, based on the teachings of the historical Buddha, are insight meditation (Vipassana) and loving kindness meditation (Metta).
Our group includes members of the New Haven community and Yale students and faculty. You do not need to be from Yale to join us. We are diverse in age, race, and gender.

Group Leaders
Dwight Chapel
New Haven Insight was founded in 2008 by Judson Brewer now the Director of Research at the UMass Center for Mindfulness. Dr. Suman Baddam and Mark Saron are now group leaders at the Yale/New Haven location (Dwight Hall, Old Campus).
Hamden Center
Lee Barbera, and Cormac Levenson, a spiritual counselor and meditation instructor at Elm Village are leading Dharma talks and sits at the Hamden location (1253 Whitney Ave). We regularly have guest speakers experienced in the tradition of mindfulness meditation are also invited to share a Dharma talk.
